Geneva, 16 July 2025<\/em><\/p>\n

The Zagros Center for Human Rights expresses its deep concern over the intensifying violence in Syria, particularly in the Sweida province. Since early July 2025, this majority-Druze region has been the scene of bloody clashes between Sunni tribal militias, Syrian security forces, and local Druze self-defense groups. According to credible sources, over 200 people have been killed<\/strong>, including civilians, with documented cases of summary executions of young Druze men<\/strong> by Syrian military intelligence services.<\/p>\n

Government forces have been accused of opening fire on unarmed civilians, and video footage shows scenes of brutal arrests and mistreatment. Moreover, the authorities\u2019 failure to protect local populations has fueled a cycle of reprisals and growing communal hatred.<\/p>\n

We are also concerned by the ongoing violations targeting other minority groups such as the Kurds, Alawites, and Christians.<\/p>\n
